~3,000+ years ago
Aramai tribelet of Ramaytush Ohlone settle at Calera Creek. Villages: Timigtac (at Calera Creek, steps from Mori Point) and Pruristac (San Pedro Valley). ~50 people in 10 families — yet the most politically influential of all ten Ramaytush tribelets. They quarried limestone at Mori Point, harvested tule reeds from the wetlands, and left shell middens on the headland.
1769
Portolá Expedition arrives. Spanish missionaries begin forced conversion. A couple named Utchus and Muchiate from Timigtac become ancestors of the only surviving Aramai lineage. Their daughter Xilaite was born just before contact. By 1800, 95% of the Aramai are dead. Their living descendant: Dr. Jonathan Cordero, 9th generation.
1776
Spanish force Indian labor to quarry the same limestone the Aramai had used — stripping Mori Point rock to build the Presidio and Mission Dolores. Lime pits produce whitewash for colonial buildings.
1888
Stefano Mori, Italian immigrant, purchases 19 acres at Mori Point. Family raises cattle, artichokes, Brussels sprouts. Kitchen for ranch hands evolves into the Mori Point Inn.
1906
San Francisco earthquake (M7.9). Epicenter 2 miles offshore — Mussel Rock is closest land point. Fault ruptures 296 miles. Rockaway Beach Quarry provides gravel to rebuild SF. The same quarry operated since 1907 for the Ocean Shore Railroad.
1920s
Mori Point Inn becomes one of California's first Prohibition speakeasies. Jack Mori rows out to schooners at night, builds lever-and-pulley system to unload entire ships of Canadian whiskey. 1921: police seize $50K of alcohol ($745K today). 1923: feds confiscate 24,000 cases worth $2M ($37.8M in 2025). The county sheriff was a patron. Dashiell Hammett fictionalized these coastal speakeasies in "The Girl With The Silver Eyes" (1924).
1942–45
Sharp Park Golf Course (immediately north of Mori Point) used as a Japanese internment camp during WWII. Gravel and sand extracted from the area for war effort.
1949
Historic aerial photographs taken (our "before" images). Area is largely undeveloped grassland — Mori Inn still standing. No visible spiral formations. The geology is identical to today.
Feb 26, 1966
Mori Point Inn burns to the ground in what Fire Captain James Evans called "suspicious circumstances" — fire started at ideal point to completely destroy the building. It had been vacated only 3 months prior. The Pacifica Tribune: "The old landmark died the way she lived — in a bawdy and spectacular fashion."
1969
Archaeological survey records a shell midden at Mori Point — confirming pre-Columbian Ohlone occupation of the headland itself.
1980s–90s
20 years of development pressure — condominiums, hotels, convention centers, even a casino proposed. Community groups "Pacificans for Mori Point" and "Friends of Mori Point" fight every proposal.
2000–2002
Trust for Public Land purchases Mori Point with Pacifica Land Trust and Coastal Conservancy. Transferred to NPS as part of Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Habitat restoration begins — focus on endangered California red-legged frog and SF garter snake.
2004
Land's End Labyrinth built 19 km north by Eduardo Aguilera. Labyrinth culture spreads along the San Andreas coastline.
2006
Developer R. Don Peebles (Florida) loses public vote to build on remaining open space south of the point. Mori Point permanently protected.
~2010s–Present
Multiple spiral and labyrinth formations appear on Mori Point hillside — anonymous, community-built folk art. No single creator. "As easy as carving a path in sand with driftwood or as involved as designing a pattern from cliff rocks." Visible from satellite. At least 5 distinct patterns. NPS names trails in Ohlone language: Timigtac Trail, Lishumsha Trail.
June 2022
First documented UAP capture on Mori Point webcam. Luminous objects moving along defined trajectories over the ocean.
Nov 2023
Second webcam UAP capture. Objects appear to follow grid-like paths. Reddit post documents the footage.
Dec 2024
Third webcam capture — the most compelling footage yet. Objects move along apparent lines correlating with fault bearing (~325° NW-SE).
