The Tomb of Empress Li stands adjacent to Maoling, the massive mausoleum of Emperor Wu of Han. Empress Li was the legendary beauty Li Furen — "Lady Li" — whose brother Li Yannian composed the famous song: "A single glance overthrows a city, a second glance overthrows a nation." Emperor Wu was so grief-stricken after her death that he reportedly had a Daoist priest summon her spirit, creating what may be the first recorded séance in Chinese history. At 289.87° Giza bearing — identical to Maoling — her tomb participates in the same geometric corridor as the emperor she enchanted in life and haunted in death.
