The Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang is the burial complex of China's first emperor, who unified the warring states in 221 BCE. The tomb mound rises 47 meters — a man-made mountain covering 350,000 square meters. The Terracotta Army of 8,000 life-sized warriors stands guard 1.7 km to the east. Ancient historian Sima Qian described rivers of mercury flowing through a model of the empire inside the tomb — modern soil analysis confirms anomalously high mercury concentrations. The tomb remains unexcavated. Its Giza bearing of 290.19° aligns within 0.05° of Aldebaran's setting azimuth, the Persian Royal Star of the east.
