The Pyramid of Amfio in Boeotia, central Greece, was identified by Professor Ioannis Liritzis during his broader survey of pyramid-like structures beyond the well-known Argolid examples. Located near the ancient city of Thebes — one of the most important Mycenaean centers — the site suggests that pyramid-form construction in Greece was not limited to the Peloponnese. At 139.94° Giza bearing across 1,172 km, Amfio sits on the ley line connecting Greek sacred sites to Egypt. Liritzis's thermoluminescence dating of Greek pyramids has produced controversial results suggesting Bronze Age construction dates, challenging assumptions about the geographic boundaries of pyramid-building cultures in the ancient Mediterranean.
