Subsidiary queen's pyramid of the Khufu complex at Giza, designated G1-a, attributed to Khufu's chief consort Henutsen or to his mother Hetepheres I. Base 49.5 metres per side, original height approximately 30 metres; current height 21 metres after extensive stone robbery. The internal burial chamber, accessed from a 4-metre descending corridor, was found empty and partially destroyed. The pyramid sits within a small cult complex including a chapel and offering basins; the chapel's foundation was reused under the 26th dynasty for an Isis temple, the Stela of the Sphinx text discovered there records a fictionalized history of the Sphinx as restored by Tuthmosis IV. The pyramid is one of three subsidiary tombs flanking the eastern face of the Great Pyramid.
The mother of the pharaoh who built the Great Pyramid was buried in a structure smaller than the Great Pyramid's casing stones — and a thousand years later her chapel became a temple to a different god.
