Nyuserre's Pyramid at Abusir is the best-preserved of the Abusir group, built around 2445 BCE to a height of 51.7 meters. Its construction reveals both the ambition and pragmatism of the late 5th Dynasty: Nyuserre appropriated the unfinished causeway and valley temple of his predecessor Neferirkare, rerouting them to his own pyramid — saving years of construction time. The resulting bent causeway is the only non-straight example in Egyptian pyramid architecture. At Giza bearing 324.3° and 11.5 km from the Great Pyramid, Nyuserre also built a sun temple at Abu Ghurob with a massive granite obelisk — the best-preserved of all 5th Dynasty solar temples and a key site for understanding the dynasty's theological emphasis on Ra worship. His pyramid complex includes a rare intact satellite pyramid. The pharaoh's long reign of approximately 30 years gave him time to complete multiple monuments, making him the most prolific builder of the late 5th Dynasty.
