Sixth-Dynasty queen's pyramid at South Saqqara within the Pepi I funerary complex, built for Queen Mehaa, consort of Pepi I. Construction date approximately 2300 BCE. Excavated by the French mission at Saqqara during the 1990s. Original base approximately 21 metres per side; original height around 13 metres. The mortuary chapel on the east face produced relief fragments naming the queen, an offering table, and a unique limestone stela depicting her son Prince Hornetjerikhet — the only known representation of a royal prince attached to a queen's pyramid in this period. The substructure preserved a limestone burial chamber with Pyramid Texts on the south and west walls and an emptied basalt sarcophagus. Mehaa's family origin and the fate of her son are unrecorded; he never appears in any king list.
A queen whose pyramid names her child as well as herself, in a complex where eight other queens' children are not named at all.
