Sixth-Dynasty queen's pyramid at South Saqqara within the Pepi II funerary complex, built for Queen Iput II — granddaughter of Pepi I and consort of Pepi II. Construction date approximately 2250 BCE. Excavated by Gustave Jéquier between 1926 and 1932 and re-examined by the French mission in the 2000s. Original base 21 metres per side; original height around 13 metres. The substructure preserved a vaulted limestone burial chamber with Pyramid Texts on the south, west, and north walls, a basalt sarcophagus inscribed with her name and titles, and an alabaster canopic chest broken open in antiquity. The mortuary chapel produced a limestone false door bearing her royal titles, including the rare King's Daughter of His Body — confirming her descent from Pepi I rather than from a collateral line.
A queen whose grandfather, husband, and uncle-in-law were all kings, buried under her own pyramid with her own liturgy, in the last Sixth-Dynasty cemetery the central state was able to finance.
