Lepsius-L, designated by Karl Richard Lepsius during his 1842-43 survey of Egyptian monuments, is a small pyramid at Dahshur whose attribution remains one of Egyptology's persistent puzzles. Some scholars identify it as a satellite pyramid of Sneferu's Bent Pyramid complex (c. 2600 BCE), while others assign it to an unknown ruler of the 13th Dynasty (c. 1750 BCE) — a dating discrepancy of over 800 years. At Giza bearing 338.13° and 20.2 km from the Great Pyramid, the structure's modest size and damaged condition have made definitive identification impossible. Its position between the great Dahshur pyramids of Sneferu and the Middle Kingdom monuments creates a spatial ambiguity matching the chronological one. The Lepsius numbering system — assigning letters and numbers to 67 pyramids along the Nile — remains the foundational catalog of Egyptian pyramid studies, and this enigmatic structure embodies the gaps that still exist in our understanding.
