The pyramid of king Aryamani in the Gebel Barkal cemetery, built for an early Meroitic ruler whose reign is dated to approximately 260 BCE. Original base approximately 10 metres per side; original height around 17 metres at the steep Meroitic slope. Excavated by George Reisner in the early twentieth century. The substructure preserved a small vaulted burial chamber, fragmentary canopic jars, and offering deposits. Aryamani is documented from a stela found at the temple of Amun at Kawa recording his coronation procession through the four major Kushite Amun-temple cities — Napata, Kawa, Pnubs, and Sanam — a ceremonial circuit that every Meroitic king performed at accession. The text is one of the more complete coronation accounts surviving from the early Meroitic period and one of the few in which the king's full ritual itinerary can be reconstructed in geographic order.
A pyramid for one of the early Meroitic kings whose entire surviving documentation is the path his coronation procession walked between four temples.
