, opened to staff in April 2017. The principal building, called Apple Park Main Building (informally the Spaceship), is a single circular structure 461 metres in diameter — almost exactly a 0.5-kilometre circle — covering 260,000 square metres of office space across four storeys around a central 12-hectare landscaped courtyard. The building was designed by Foster + Partners under the direct supervision of Steve Jobs in the years before his death in 2011; the project was managed through completion by his successor Tim Cook and Apple's chief design officer Jonathan Ive. The exterior is glazed in 800 curved structural glass panels, the largest curved glass panels ever manufactured at the time of construction. Construction cost approximately 5 billion dollars. The campus also includes the 1,000-seat Steve Jobs Theater, the Apple Park Visitor Center, and 9,000 trees planted across the 70-hectare site.
A perfect circular office building 461 metres in diameter, built for one technology company at a cost five times the GDP of several small nations.
