Cajamarquilla is one of the largest archaeological sites in Peru — 167 hectares of adobe pyramids, streets, plazas, underground silos, and irrigation canals forming a sprawling urban center east of modern Lima. The site served as a critical trading hub on the route connecting the Pacific coast to the Andean highlands. At 62.26° Giza bearing, it sits on the Pleiades corridor threading through Lima's archaeological landscape. The city's complex hydraulic infrastructure — canals, reservoirs, and underground storage — demonstrates sophisticated water management in an arid coastal environment. In 2021, archaeologists discovered a 1,000-year-old mummy in excellent preservation, its body bound with rope in a fetal position.
