Sixth-Dynasty queen's pyramid at South Saqqara within the funerary complex of Pepi I, built for Queen Nebuunet, one of his consorts. Construction date approximately 2310 BCE. Excavated by the French mission under Audran Labrousse and Jean Leclant during the 1990s. Original base approximately 21 metres per side; original height around 13 metres. The substructure preserved a limestone burial chamber with carved Pyramid Texts on its west wall and a basalt sarcophagus that had been broken open in antiquity. The mortuary chapel on the east face produced a limestone false door inscribed with Nebuunet's name and the title King's Wife, the Beloved. Her position in the royal hierarchy, her family origin, and her relationship to Pepi I's named heirs remain unrecorded.
One of nine queens buried in their own pyramids around a single king — a density of royal women's tombs without precedent or successor in Egyptian history.
