Sixth-Dynasty queen's pyramid at South Saqqara, immediately northwest of the pyramid of Pepi II, built for Queen Neith — daughter of Pepi I and Ankhesenpepi I, sister and consort of Pepi II, mother of pharaoh Merenre Nemtyemsaf II. Construction date approximately 2260 BCE. Excavated by Gustave Jéquier between 1926 and 1932. Original base 21 metres per side; original height around 13 metres. The substructure preserved a complete Pyramid Text sequence inscribed across all four walls of the antechamber and burial chamber, a basalt sarcophagus, and the canopic chest still sealed at three corners. The mortuary chapel on the east face yielded a granite false door, an offering table, and a relief sequence showing the queen seated before her son the king. Her two royal titles — King's Daughter, King's Wife — both refer to the same man.
A queen whose father, husband, brother, and son were all pharaohs, in a pyramid whose liturgy reads forward and backward through three generations of one bloodline.
