Queens' pyramid 3 of Senusret I at el-Lisht, the third of nine small queens' pyramids arranged around the main pyramid of pharaoh Senusret I. Construction date approximately 1950 BCE. Original base approximately 20 metres per side; original height around 16 metres at a steep slope. Excavated by the Metropolitan Museum's expedition from 1906 onward and re-examined by Dieter Arnold from 1984. The substructure preserved a small vaulted burial chamber, a sandstone sarcophagus broken open in antiquity, and a cache of fragmentary canopic equipment whose inscriptions are illegible. The mortuary chapel on the east face yielded no cartouche.
One of nine near-identical queens' pyramids whose architectural uniformity is matched by the uniformity of their lost identities — the third in a row of monuments whose individual occupants are recoverable only as the unnamed wives of a single king.
