Queens' pyramid 5 of Senusret I at el-Lisht, fifth of nine small queens' pyramids around the main pyramid of pharaoh Senusret I (r. 1971–1926 BCE). Original base approximately 20 metres per side; original height around 16 metres. Excavated by the Metropolitan Museum's expedition from 1906 onward. The substructure preserved a small vaulted burial chamber and an emptied sandstone sarcophagus. The mortuary chapel produced fragmentary relief blocks showing offering scenes but no preserved cartouche identifying the occupant. The internal arrangement of corridors, portcullises, and chamber size matches the eight other queens' pyramids in the row to within centimetres — the closest documented set of identical-template royal funerary structures from any Egyptian dynasty.
One of nine functionally indistinguishable queens' pyramids built simultaneously around a single king, in a row whose engineering precision exceeds the documentary precision of the women it was built to bury.
