The queens' pyramid of Djedkare-Isesi at South Saqqara, immediately north of the main pyramid of pharaoh Djedkare-Isesi (r. ~2414–2375 BCE) and built for queen Setibhor, his senior consort. Original base 41 metres per side; original height around 24 metres at a steep slope — exceptionally large for a Fifth-Dynasty queen's pyramid. Excavated by the Egyptian Antiquities Service in 1945 and substantially re-examined by an Egyptian–Czech mission from 2018 to 2020 that recovered Setibhor's cartouche on inscribed blocks of the mortuary temple — the first secure identification of the pyramid's owner. The substructure preserved a vaulted limestone burial chamber, an emptied basalt sarcophagus, and fragmentary canopic equipment. Setibhor's mortuary temple is the first known queen's mortuary temple to include a full pillared courtyard, processional approach, and inscribed reliefs at near-pharaonic scale.
A queen's pyramid for the consort of Djedkare-Isesi, identified by name only in the last seven years, in a mortuary temple that was the largest queen's cult installation of its century.
