The Sector F Pyramid at Chupacigarro in the Supe Valley, Lima Region, Peru — a platform pyramid in the satellite settlement of the Caral urban centre, built between approximately 3000 and 1800 BCE during the same Late Archaic period that produced Caral itself. Original base 60 by 50 metres; original height 12 metres on three terraces. Chupacigarro is one of approximately 20 satellite urban sites identified in the Supe Valley by the Caral Archaeological Project under Ruth Shady Solís — together they constitute the densest pre-ceramic urban network in the Americas, with multiple linked cities, monumental pyramids at every node, and an integrated water-management system feeding agricultural terraces along 50 kilometres of valley floor. Excavated since 2002 by the Caral Project. The site preserves the best documented evidence for Late Archaic urban planning in the Americas: orthogonal residential blocks, dedicated storage facilities, and ceremonial precincts laid out in advance of construction.
A satellite pyramid in the densest pre-ceramic urban network on the continent, built within sight of five other contemporary cities along the same river.
