Cerro Baul rises 600 meters above the Moquegua Valley floor — a sheer-sided mesa that the Wari Empire fortified as its southernmost political outpost around 600 CE. Two D-shaped temples, a palace, and a brewery capable of producing 1,800 liters of chicha beer in a single batch crowned the summit. When the Wari abandoned the site around 1050 CE, they held a ceremonial feast, ritually smashed their vessels, and burned the brewery. The Tiwanaku Empire occupied the valley floor below, making this one of the ancient world's most remarkable boundary zones. At 63.38° bearing to Giza across 12,076 km.
