Chartres Cathedral Labyrinth is a labyrinth installation in Eure-et-Loir, Centre-Val de Loire, France. The design is a medieval chartres layout with 11 circuits, 12 walls, approximately 12.88 metres in diameter, built of tile. Documented age: 1215-1221 AD (1215 - 1221 AD). Current condition: intact. The most celebrated labyrinth in the world, installed between 1215-1221 in the nave of Chartres Cathedral, measures 12.85 meters in diameter with an 11-circuit path stretching 261.5 meters to the center. Documentation sources: Saward 2003, Kern 2000, Chartres Cathedral Archives. The same seven-circuit topology appears at this site as at every other classical labyrinth on Earth. The labyrinth is one of several hundred sites of this type catalogued globally; each preserves the same unicursal walking-pattern with regional variation in scale, material, and date.

The labyrinth tradition spans at least 4,000 years of documented practice across northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the British Isles, North America, and the Indian subcontinent.
