Winchester Mizmaze (St Catherine's Hill) is a turf-cut labyrinth in Hampshire, near Winchester, England. The design is a medieval st omer layout with 9 circuits, 10 walls, approximately 26 metres in diameter, built of turf. Documented age: Probably 17th century (1600s AD). Current condition: damaged. Carved into the summit of St Catherine's Hill — an Iron Age hillfort above Winchester, the ancient capital of Wessex — this mizmaze features a rare square design unique among English turf labyrinths. Documentation sources: Matthews 1922. The same seven-circuit topology appears at this site as at every other classical labyrinth on Earth. The labyrinth is one of several hundred sites of this type catalogued globally; each preserves the same unicursal walking-pattern with regional variation in scale, material, and date.
