Nim Li Punit is a Late Classic Maya city in the Toledo District of southern Belize, occupied principally between approximately 400 and 850 CE. The site is best known for its corpus of 26 sculpted limestone stelae — among the densest concentrations of carved monuments at any small Maya center — including Stela 14 at 9.3 metres tall, the second-tallest known Maya stela. The name Nim Li Punit means big hat in modern Qʼeqchiʼ Maya, referring to the elaborate headdress of the principal figure on Stela 14. The city includes plazas, residential compounds, and a small ballcourt. Excavations by Geoffrey Braswell of the University of California San Diego since 2010 recovered a tomb beneath Plaza Cahal Pech containing a remarkable jade pectoral inscribed with the name and accession date of an early-9th-century king. The stelae remain in their original plaza positions, sheltered today under low protective canopies.

The carved relief still preserves fine detail across most surfaces.
