Queen Amanitore, daughter of the gold-laden Amanishakheto, co-ruled with Natakamani during what scholars call the golden age of Meroitic civilization (c. 1-20 CE). Her building program was extraordinary — temples at Naqa, Amara, and Meroe itself bear her cartouche. At Naqa's Lion Temple, she is depicted in the pharaonic smiting pose, wielding power iconographically equal to her co-ruler. Her pyramid at 350.08° Giza bearing continues the Meroitic meridian alignment. Amanitore's historical stature has reached modern culture — she appears as a leader in Civilization VI, introducing a global audience to Kushite heritage. She was among the last great pyramid builders in human history.
