Yarumela's massive El Chircal mound dominates the Comayagua Valley of Honduras, one of nine visible structures at this Middle Formative era site. Dating to approximately 900-300 BCE, Yarumela represents one of the earliest complex societies in central Honduras, predating the Maya florescence by centuries. The site's monumental architecture suggests a chiefdom-level society capable of organizing significant labor forces. Its position in the fertile Comayagua Valley — a natural corridor between the Caribbean and Pacific coasts — made it a node in early trade networks. At 52.27° Giza bearing across 11,818 km, part of the pre-Maya cultural substrate of Central America.
