Subsidiary queen's pyramid in the Userkaf complex at Saqqara, attributed to Neferhetepes, mother of Userkaf's successor Sahure. Base 18 metres per side, original height approximately 17 metres. The pyramid was reduced to rubble by stone robbery; only the bedrock-cut substructure survives intact, comprising a vertical shaft and a single burial chamber. The pyramid was identified as Neferhetepes' on the basis of relief fragments from a chapel adjacent to the structure recovered by Cecil Firth's 1928 excavation. Neferhetepes is one of the few non-royal Old Kingdom women whose name and position in the genealogy of three successive pharaohs is documented.
The smallest queen's pyramid at Saqqara was built for the woman whose son built the next dynasty's first major pyramid — and her chapel reliefs are the only thing that names her.
