Seventeenth-Dynasty pyramid at Dra Abu el-Naga, west bank at Thebes, built for pharaoh Nubkheperre Intef VI, who reigned approximately 1571 BCE. Original base approximately 11 metres per side; original height around 13 metres at a 60° slope. The structure is a small steep mudbrick pyramid built directly over a rock-cut tomb shaft. Identified by Daniel Polz of the German Archaeological Institute between 2001 and 2003 from contextual finds and pottery; the substructure had been robbed in antiquity. The pyramidion of fine white limestone was recovered intact in 2001, inscribed with the king's titulary on all four faces — now in the Petrie Museum and the Egyptian Museum. The Abbott Papyrus, written 450 years after the king's death, records that Twentieth-Dynasty inspectors entered the tomb during the great Theban tomb-robbery investigation and found it intact at that time.
A king buried under a mudbrick pyramid the size of a one-storey building, whose tomb survived a tomb-robbery audit four centuries after his death and was robbed regardless within another generation.
