The pyramid of king Amanislo at the Meroë South Cemetery (Begarawiyah South), built for one of the early Meroitic rulers whose reign falls in the immediate generation after the cemetery shifted south from Nuri. Construction date approximately 260–250 BCE. Original base approximately 11 metres per side; original height around 18 metres at the steep Meroitic slope. Excavated by George Reisner between 1920 and 1923. The substructure preserved a vaulted granite burial chamber, fragmentary canopic equipment, and a cache of bronze ritual vessels of Hellenistic-influenced design — evidence of trade contact with the Ptolemaic Egyptian court that had emerged in Alexandria within the same century. Amanislo is one of the more poorly documented early Meroitic kings; his reign is attested almost exclusively from this pyramid and from a single seal impression.
A pyramid in the early Meroë cemetery, built for a king whose existence is documented in two artefacts and one tomb.
