The Building of the Five Stories is the dominant pyramid at Edzná in the central Yucatán of Campeche, Mexico, an unusual hybrid of pyramidal substructure and palatial superstructure. Built primarily between 600 and 900 CE during the Late Classic, the structure rises 40 metres on five superimposed levels, each containing vaulted residential or administrative chambers — a configuration almost unique in Maya architecture, which typically separates pyramid from palace. The summit holds a small shrine topped by a roofcomb. Edzná was the centre of an elaborate hydraulic system of canals and reservoirs that channelled and irrigated the surrounding bajos, supporting an estimated 25,000 inhabitants at its peak. The site was first mapped by Sylvanus Morley in 1927 and excavated by Román Piña Chan and INAH teams in the 1960s.

The Building of the Five Stories is a pyramid that is also a five-story apartment building, and the architecture knows it.
