The Great Pyramid at Kabah sits behind the Codz Poop façade in the Puuc Hills of Yucatán, Mexico, anchoring the eastern side of the city's main ceremonial precinct. The pyramid was built between approximately 750 and 950 CE during the Puuc Maya florescence, of fitted limestone veneer over a rubble core in the technique characteristic of the region — finely cut external blocks rather than stuccoed surfaces. The structure rises approximately 30 metres in tiered platforms with a single broad central staircase. Kabah was connected to nearby Uxmal by a 32 km sacbé (raised stone causeway) terminating at a triumphal arch on the northern edge of the Kabah precinct. The site was investigated by Pollock and Brainerd for the Carnegie Institution, and re-mapped by INAH from the 1990s onward.

The Great Pyramid is a building constructed of stones cut so accurately the exterior didn't need stucco to hide the seams.
