Three sandstone mesas in northeastern Arizona — First, Second, and Third Mesa — have been continuously inhabited by the Hopi people for over 900 years. Old Oraibi on Third Mesa, settled around 1100 CE, is one of the oldest continuously occupied settlements in North America. The Hopi name for the Pleiades is Chuuhukon ("Those Who Cling Together"), and the star cluster governs their agricultural planting calendar. The Blue Star Kachina prophecy describes a cosmic event that will signal the transition from the Fourth to the Fifth World. The mesas sit on the Nazca-Angkor great circle (0.24° deviation), connecting this indigenous North American sacred site to South American and Southeast Asian alignment networks.
