Casa Grande Ruins Labyrinth is a labyrinth installation in Coolidge, Arizona, United States. The design is a classical 7circuit layout with 7 circuits, 8 walls, built of rock carving. Documented age: ~1150-1450 AD (Classic Hohokam Period) (1150 - 1450 AD). Current condition: damaged. A 7-circuit classical labyrinth etched in plaster on the north wall of the Casa Grande great house — a four-story Ancestral Sonoran structure built around 1350 CE from 3,000 tons of caliche mud. Documentation sources: Saward 2003. The labyrinth pattern occurs nowhere in nature; every documented instance traces back to a human hand. The labyrinth is one of several hundred sites of this type catalogued globally; each preserves the same unicursal walking-pattern with regional variation in scale, material, and date.
The labyrinth tradition spans at least 4,000 years of documented practice across northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the British Isles, North America, and the Indian subcontinent.
