Hollywood Stone (Labyrinth Stone) is a rock-carved labyrinth in County Wicklow, Ireland. The design is a classical 7circuit layout with 7 circuits, 8 walls, approximately 0.73 metres in diameter, built of rock carving. Documented age: Early to high medieval (800 - 1300 AD). Current condition: intact. Discovered in 1908 at Lockstown Upper in County Wicklow, the Hollywood Stone bears a 73-centimeter classical 7-circuit labyrinth carving — the only known example in Ireland. Documentation sources: Saward 2003, Labyrinthos. The labyrinth pattern occurs nowhere in nature; every documented instance traces back to a human hand. The labyrinth is one of several hundred sites of this type catalogued globally; each preserves the same unicursal walking-pattern with regional variation in scale, material, and date.
The labyrinth tradition spans at least 4,000 years of documented practice across northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the British Isles, North America, and the Indian subcontinent.
