Phnom Krom crowns a 140-meter hill on the southern shore of Tonle Sap lake — Southeast Asia's largest freshwater lake, which dramatically expands and contracts with the monsoon cycle. Three sandstone towers dedicated to the Hindu Trimurti (Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma) stand in a row atop the wind-swept summit, heavily weathered by centuries of exposure. One of three hill temples built simultaneously by Yasovarman I (alongside Phnom Bakheng and Phnom Bok) to triangulate the Angkor landscape. At 297.32° Giza bearing, Phnom Krom serves as the southern anchor point of Yasovarman's triangulation network.
