Sechin Bajo contains what may be the oldest known building in the Americas — a platform mound measuring 180 by 120 meters and rising 18 meters, with radiocarbon dates pushing back to 3500 BCE. Located in Peru's Casma Valley, the site predates even the Norte Chico centers of Caral and Aspero. At 61.39° Giza bearing along the coastal Pleiades corridor, Sechin Bajo's extreme antiquity positions it as a potential origin point for the entire Andean monumental tradition. German archaeologist Peter Fuchs's excavations revealed the early construction phases that rewrite the timeline of New World civilization. The site forces a fundamental reconsideration of when and where complex societies first emerged in the Americas.
