Preah Ko ("Sacred Bull") is named for the three white Nandi (sacred bull) statues kneeling before its towers — Shiva's mount guarding the threshold of the divine. Six brick towers in two rows are dedicated to the deified ancestors of Indravarman I, who built it in 879 CE as the first major temple of the Roluos group. Elaborate stucco decoration, some still visible after 1,150 years, covers the towers with floral and figural motifs of extraordinary refinement. Part of the Roluos group that launched Angkorian architecture. At 297.30° Giza bearing, Preah Ko's ancestral dedication connects earthly lineage to cosmic geometry.
