Candi Sewu, meaning 'Thousand Temples,' is the second largest Buddhist complex in Indonesia after Borobudur — 249 temples arranged in a precise mandala pattern around a central cruciform sanctuary. Its original name, Manjusrigrha ('House of Manjusri'), identifies it with the bodhisattva of wisdom. Built around 782 CE, it predates neighboring Prambanan by at least 70 years. Guardian dvarapala statues stand over 2 meters tall. At 301.25° bearing to Giza across 9,426 km, Sewu's mandala geometry encodes the same sacred mathematics found in Buddhist cosmological diagrams across Asia.
