The Dieng Plateau temples, sitting at 2,093 meters in Central Java's volcanic highlands, are among the oldest standing stone structures on the island — eight surviving Hindu shrines from an original complex of approximately 400. Built between the 7th and 8th centuries CE, they predate both Borobudur and Prambanan. Named after Mahabharata wayang characters (Arjuna, Bima, etc.), the temples rise from a misty caldera landscape of sulfurous lakes and fumaroles. At 301.32° bearing to Giza across 9,339 km, the Dieng temples anchor the earliest layer of Java's Hindu-Buddhist sacred architecture on the Southeast Asian energy grid.
