A natural granite rock labyrinth in Bavaria's Fichtelgebirge ('Spruce Mountains'), Luisenburg was landscaped into a walkable labyrinthine garden in 1790 during the German Romantic movement. However, the massive granite boulders — some weighing over 1,000 tons — were arranged by geological forces during the last ice age, creating natural passages and chambers that humans recognized as labyrinthine long before the 18th century. Named after Queen Luise of Prussia who visited in 1805. At 329.67° Giza bearing, Luisenburg sits on the European Variscan granite belt that stretches from Cornwall to Bohemia. The Fichtelgebirge is a watershed divide where waters flow to three seas — North Sea, Baltic, and Black Sea — a triple-convergence point in European hydrology.
