A stone labyrinth known as the 'Schwedenrad' (Swedish Wheel) near Steigra in Saxony-Anhalt — one of the few stone labyrinths in central Germany, far south of the main Scandinavian distribution zone. The name suggests local tradition attributed it to Swedish soldiers during the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648), though the labyrinth form may be older. Steigra sits in the Saale-Unstrut region, Germany's northernmost wine-growing area and a landscape rich in prehistoric remains. At Giza bearing 331.36°, this labyrinth marks the southern frontier of the Germanic stone labyrinth tradition.
