Punkuri's temple in the Nepena Valley preserves some of the earliest monumental art in Peru: a painted feline figure carved into an adobe doorway, its fangs and claws reflecting the Chavin religious tradition that would dominate Andean spirituality for centuries. Two connected platforms rise from the valley floor, their interior chambers decorated with polychrome murals in red, white, and black. Dating to the late Initial Period (c. 1500-900 BCE), Punkuri represents the moment when Andean cultures began encoding cosmic beliefs into architectural form. At 61.29° bearing to Giza and 12,382 km distance, it sits on the northern coastal extension of the Pleiades alignment.
