Shwesandaw Pagoda is a white stepped pyramid crowned by a golden cylindrical stupa — the first monument at Bagan to bridge the transition from square terraced base to circular reliquary crown. Five square terraces with stairways on all four sides give it a distinctly Mesoamerican appearance unique among Burmese monuments. Built by King Anawrahta in 1057 CE, it enshrines hairs of the Buddha brought from the conquered Mon kingdom of Thaton. With powerLevel 6 — the highest in the Bagan cluster — and a 292.87° Giza bearing, Shwesandaw stands as an energetic nexus where Buddhist relic devotion meets pyramidal geometry at one of the most sacred points on the Southeast Asian grid.
