Ingapirca is the largest Inca ruin in Ecuador — featuring a unique elliptical temple platform with no parallel in the Inca world. The oval shape may reflect the pre-existing Canari sacred site, creating a hybrid Canari-Inca form. Precisely fitted mortarless ashlar masonry typical of Cusco sits atop rougher Canari foundations. Radiocarbon dating confirms pre-Inca occupation. At 59.16° Giza bearing, Ingapirca represents the northernmost major Inca achievement, 12,071 km from Giza — the geometric terminus of Inca expansion along this bearing corridor.
