My Son was the religious and political capital of the Champa Kingdom for most of its existence — from the 4th to 13th centuries CE. Originally 71 Hindu Shaiva temples in 8 clusters, heavily damaged by U.S. B-52 bombing during the Vietnam War; roughly 20 structures survive. The Cham mastered a unique brick construction technique using no visible mortar — possibly a plant-based resin that fused the bricks at high temperature. Groups B, C, and D contain the most visually stunning remains. UNESCO World Heritage since 1999. At 296.88° Giza bearing, My Son extends the Khmer-sphere alignment corridor eastward into Vietnam's Quang Nam province.
