Soleb Temple, the southernmost temple built by the great Amenhotep III, stretches along the west bank of the Nile in Upper Nubia with colonnaded courts rivaling Luxor. Dedicated to Amun-Ra and the deified pharaoh himself, it contains the famous Soleb inscription — widely considered the earliest known reference to 'Yahweh' outside the Bible, listed among 'lands of the Shasu' nomads. Twin granite lions (now in the British Museum) once flanked its processional way. At 4.17° bearing to Giza across just 1,064 km, Soleb sits on the ley line running the length of the Nile, connecting Upper Nubia directly to the Great Pyramid.
