Western Xia Mausoleum 2 (Jialing) is the tomb of Li Deming (981-1032 CE), father of the dynasty's official founder. Li Deming skillfully played the Song and Liao dynasties against each other while consolidating Tangut power. The mausoleum follows the distinctive Western Xia octagonal rammed-earth tower design, surrounded by corner watchtowers, inner and outer walls, and satellite burial mounds. The Tangut script inscribed on associated artifacts remains only partially deciphered. At 286.70° Giza bearing — identical to all nine Western Xia mausoleums — the necropolis demonstrates one of the tightest geometric clusters of any pyramid field relative to Giza.
