Western Xia Mausoleum 3 (Tailing) entombs Li Yuanhao (1003-1048 CE), the first officially proclaimed emperor of Western Xia, who created the Tangut script and established Buddhism as the state religion. The pavilion-tower fusion style combines Chinese imperial tomb traditions with uniquely Tangut elements — the octagonal rammed-earth cone is without parallel in Han Chinese funerary architecture. The mausoleum complex covers 100,000 square meters with multiple halls, gates, and satellite burials. At 286.69° Giza bearing, Tailing maintains the Western Xia necropolis corridor, each tomb a node along a single geometric thread to the Nile.
