Hutai Altar (Lianghu Altar) is the westernmost Chinese pyramid, located in Qinghai Province on the high Tibetan Plateau margin at 36.63°N. This isolated pyramidal structure sits far from the main Chinese pyramid fields of Xi'an and Ningxia, suggesting an independent tradition of monumental construction at the edge of settled Chinese civilization. The altar's position in the Qinghai-Tibetan transition zone places it at the cultural crossroads of Han Chinese, Tibetan, and Central Asian traditions. At 285.68° Giza bearing across 6,457 km, it extends the westernmost reach of China's pyramid geometry, connecting to Giza at a steeper angle than any other Chinese site.
