Western Xia Mausoleum 6 (Xianling/Chongzong) is the tomb of Emperor Chongzong (Li Qianshun, r. 1086-1139 CE), who presided over Western Xia's golden age of cultural flowering. Surface remains are among the best preserved of the nine mausoleums, yet when the underground burial palace was excavated, it was found completely empty — looted during the Mongol destruction of the Western Xia state. The empty chamber is a haunting testament to Genghis Khan's campaign of annihilation. At 286.68° Giza bearing, the mausoleum's above-ground geometry endures even as its contents were scattered to the winds of conquest.
