Western Xia Mausoleum 9 (Kangling) is the last tomb in the Helan Mountain necropolis — the final three Western Xia emperors received no burial mounds because the Mongol conquest of 1227 destroyed the dynasty so completely that even the dead went unhonored. Genghis Khan ordered the Western Xia annihilated after they refused to supply troops; the capital was razed, the population massacred. Kangling thus marks both the terminus of a 200-year funerary tradition and the severing of a geometric thread. At 286.67° Giza bearing, it is the last node on a corridor of nine pyramids, each placed with sub-degree precision across 6,760 km.
