A small labyrinth embedded in the magnificent Cosmati pavement of Santa Maria in Trastevere, one of Rome's oldest churches — traditionally founded in 340 CE and rebuilt in the 12th century. The Cosmati mosaic floors, created by the Cosmati family of marble workers, use geometric patterns of porphyry, serpentine, and gold tessera recycled from ancient Roman buildings. The labyrinth is part of this larger geometric meditation in stone. At Giza bearing 313.48°, the church sits in Trastevere — Rome's most ancient continuously inhabited neighborhood, across the Tiber from the Forum.
